Discovery

My Wife and I have spent the last couple of years looking for a property to renovate. After travelling as far north as Inverness in Scotland and as far south as Helson in Cornwall, weve finally found the perfect property in Oswestry, Shropshire; Brogyntyn Hall.

We've arranged to view the estate on Friday 28th February 2014. If all things line-up, we'll be buying the estate and I'll be keeping this blog to record the renovation process from dealing with the solicitors all the way through to completion.

The photo to the left shows the house as it is now; before our first visit.

Brogyntyn was built in 1730. It has a portico of four unfluted columns with scrolls and a pediment. In the entrance hall survives an elaborately carved fireplace dated 1617. The Hall has been abandoned for 25 years and before that it was used as a telephone exchange. The government used the house during the war to support spies working in Europe.

Basically, it's going to need LOTS of work.

Wish Us Luck!!
